About Author
Elke Pfautsch was born in Calbe / Saale. She studied music education in Potsdam and church music in Berlin. Through her work with children, she has always enjoyed making up stories to convey her teaching material in a more exciting way. In 2020, she came to Uganda / Africa for the first time and was immediately fascinated by the country and its people. The stories that happened near Jinja excited her so much that she wrote them down. Elke wants to show what a great God we have, who still works mighty miracles today.
About the illustrator
Heike Petzold was born in Merseburg. Since childhood she has enjoyed to paint drawing for her life. She would have loved to become a book illustrator, but this wish was denied her during GDR times. Then Jesus came into her life. Since then, she paints more beautifully and radiantly than ever before. When the author asked her if she would like to illustrate the stories from Africa, she loved the idea and immediately agreed.
Preface and thanks from the author
Through my work with children, I have often found that they are excited about supernatural things and fascinated by wizards, witch doctors and other magicians. But most of them do not know that they really exist. With the stories, I want to show that those are real and dangerous, but that God is greater and more powerful. The stories are true events that happened on and around the Prayer Mountain in Jinja / Uganda.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Maria Prean, the director of Vision for Africa, who came to Uganda many years ago to build up this wonderful work there with God’s help, and to the former leaders of Prayer Mountain Hans-Dieter and Inge Sturz, who have been doing excellent work there for a long time. They all told me the events so that I could write them down into stories.
I would also like to express my sincere thanks to Heike Petzold and Markus Hinz, who have worked tirelessly with me on illustration and layout in loving detail. Many thanks to all those who prayed for us during this time and thus gave us support.
